04-17-15 Happy Birthday, GP!
Happy birthday to the first man I ever loved. To the man that taught me how a wife should be treated by the way he loved my mom. To the man that made me feel brave when I was scared. You are an incredible blessing in my life and I love you!

04-16-15 An Apology to my Baby
I need to apologize to Baby E. You see, he hasn't been sleeping well lately. On Sunday night into Monday he woke up every hour throughout the night. On Monday I exhausted! Monday evening came and I was determined that he would sleep. So... I gave him a warm bath. I slathered him in nighttime lotion. I put lavendar oil on his feet. I gave him a little tylenol. I dressed him, wrapped him and put a hat on him.
Tim offered to rock him to sleep so that I could get some rest. As I left the dark nursery, I handed Tim the baby orajel and told him to use it if he got fussy because maybe his teeth hurt. Tim put some on his finger and rubbed it on Baby E's gums. It took awhile, but he got the baby to sleep and the baby slept most of the night. It was wonderful!
Fast forward twenty four hours. Tuesday night, I got Baby E to sleep pretty quickly. I went downstairs and started prepping his diaper bag for the next day. As I dug through it I pulled out the baby orajel.
Wait...
Wasn't that upstairs? Didn't I hand that to Tim last night? I couldn't have because it was in the diaper bag. SO WHAT DID I HAVE TIM RUB ALL OVER BABY E'S GUMS!?!
Neosporin. Yes, you read that right! I had my husband rub Neosporin all over my teething baby's gums!!!!
In my defense, the containers are pretty similar. (did I mention I was tired and it was dark?!?)
Anyways, I did a quick google search and found out that it was pretty harmless, not that I could have done anything about it anyway, it had happened 24 hours earlier.
Part of me wonders if that is why he slept so well!
I'm really grateful he was ok and I'm kinda glad I didn't realize it the night before because I would have completely I freaked out! At least now I can laugh about it... And yes, I learned my lesson. Never hand anyone medicine in the dark!
I'm so very, very sorry Baby E!

04-15-15 Rough Day
Today was a rough day and my keyboard still isn't working. So tonight's post is very simple. Just me and my boy.

04-14-15 Growth Spurt
I'm pretty sure that in the past week this kid has gotten huge. His clothes are getting tighter on him so I know it is time to move him up in size now. He has been really fussy lately so we think maybe he is having growing pains.

04-13-15 Johns Hopkins
Well today was the big day. Tim had to work so it was just me and Baby E. We trekked up to Baltimore for a 10 am appointment. I admit I was a little anxious (or very anxious.) I rarely go to Baltimore and I am not really familiar with the city. I don't like not knowing my way around and not knowing what to expect. Fortunately we missed rush hour and the drive was fast. We got parked and made our way to the orthopedic surgeon's office. And then we waited...
Thankfully he was in a good mood! They finally called us back and we waited some more.
When the doctor showed up, it was thankfully a pretty non eventful appointment. The doctor was surprised to see a calcium deposit that young (he confirmed they normally show up around 4-5 years old.) but he said it was still small and didn't seem to be causing him any pain. He checked the rest of his body and flexed all this joints. He didn't locate any more. He said that he wasn't concerned, but if it got bigger, seemed to cause him pain, or if we noticed more, we should bring him back, but otherwise he didn't need to see him again. Whew! The was good news :)
When I got back I picked the kids up and I took them to the park.

04-12-15 Oh look! A foot!
I'm always amused when babies start noticing their feet. Baby E spent a good ten minutes watching this foot wave in the air and kick!

04-11-15 Ballet
Today was a big day for C. Her ballet school did a small recital to get the kids used to being onstage in front of a large crowd. Her big recital is in a couple of months. I think the most exciting part to her was that she got to wear makeup.
When her class came onstage, she was adorable. She snuck in a little wave to mommy and daddy and started her routine. She is one of the youngest in her class and also the shortest, so she got a place up front. For the most part, she held her own with the other girls.
Once they were finished they were allowed to sit with their class in the audience and watch the rest of the show. She was mesmorized by the big girls, especially when they were in the fancy costumes.
She was the only dancer to receive flowers (thanks for saving the day, Rebecca!) and she carried them everywhere!
She was excited to take her picture with one of the older dancers!
And off to Starbucks to celebrate with a cake pop!!
I was very proud of C. She can get shy easily, so I was a little worried that she would clam up onstage. She did great!

04-10-15 It's all fun and games until someone runs into a door...
Big E and I have a game. When I blow dry my hair in the morning, he likes me to point the dryer at him and he runs away. A moment later he will return and I do it again.
This morning, he asked to play so I turned on the hair dryer and pointed it at him. He turned around and ran full speed into the corner of the open door! It didn't sound loud, but he started crying immediately and when he turned around, he had the largest lump on his head I've ever seen!
This picture doesn't even do it justice. This thing was sticking out about an inch to an inch and a half out from his forehead!
Major mommy freak out moment!! I tried putting ice on it, but it hurt him so bad. So I settled on cold wet paper towels that I kept switching out. I had several people come to my house to look at him. (The blessing of being three doors down from family and blocks away from good friends!) In the end I decided to take him to the doctor just to make sure he didn't have a concussion.
Fortunately I was able to get him into the doctor. By the time we got there the swelling had gone down quite a bit. The doctor checked his skull and ears and said that he seemed to be fine. So, I dropped him off at Moms Morning Out and headed to work.
When I got home this evening the swelling as much better, but the bruising had definitely spread. Poor little guy!
Before all the ruckus this morning, I did capture some cute pics of the kids together! Baby E seems less than thrilled!

04-09-15 Maybe there is a king...
Per C's request, we had dinner at Burger King this evening. The favorite thing about that place is that they now have an animated menu where a chicken pops up and dashes around the screen drinking soda and waving. The kids can't get enough of it and have their eyes glued to the menu to see where he will pop up next.
Of all the fast food restaurants, I like taking the kids to BK the best, my reason- the crowns! Kids meals are kinda expensive, especially if you have to buy more than one. We normally order the kids a meal off the value meal board and split it between them. At BK they can still get a crown to wear, so to them they are getting a kids meal because the crown is their toy.
Tonight C was trying to decipher the name Burger King and concluded that there must be a king that stays behind the counter somewhere and protects the burgers from people trying to steal them.
Sure. Why not? I love seeing their little minds work and make connections and draw conclusions. You never know what they are going to say!

04-08-15 Mommy, I made you a necklace!
As I got ready to leave for work this morning Charlotte asked me to wear the necklace she made for me to work and let everyone there know that she had made it for me. (Because that wouldn't be obvious!) Sure, it wasn't my style and it was heavy as a brick, but I thought, why not?!? So for a good twenty minutes I sported this thing around the office. :)
I made sure to take this picture as proof. I will show it to her in the morning and it will make her day!

04-05-15 Happy Easter!
From going to church in the morning, to egg hunts and a huge family dinner, this Easter we were reminded of how incredibly blessed we are! We are so grateful for the work done on the cross and the resurrection of Christ. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
