04-10-15 It's all fun and games until someone runs into a door...

Big E and I have a game. When I blow dry my hair in the morning, he likes me to point the dryer at him and he runs away. A moment later he will return and I do it again.

This morning, he asked to play so I turned on the hair dryer and pointed it at him. He turned around and ran full speed into the corner of the open door! It didn't sound loud, but he started crying immediately and when he turned around, he had the largest lump on his head I've ever seen!

This picture doesn't even do it justice. This thing was sticking out about an inch to an inch and a half out from his forehead!

Major mommy freak out moment!! I tried putting ice on it, but it hurt him so bad. So I settled on cold wet paper towels that I kept switching out. I had several people come to my house to look at him. (The blessing of being three doors down from family and blocks away from good friends!) In the end I decided to take him to the doctor just to make sure he didn't have a concussion.

Fortunately I was able to get him into the doctor. By the time we got there the swelling had gone down quite a bit. The doctor checked his skull and ears and said that he seemed to be fine. So, I dropped him off at Moms Morning Out and headed to work.

When I got home this evening the swelling as much better, but the bruising had definitely spread. Poor little guy!

Before all the ruckus this morning, I did capture some cute pics of the kids together! Baby E seems less than thrilled!

04-09-15 Maybe there is a king...

Per C's request, we had dinner at Burger King this evening. The favorite thing about that place is that they now have an animated menu where a chicken pops up and dashes around the screen drinking soda and waving. The kids can't get enough of it and have their eyes glued to the menu to see where he will pop up next.

Of all the fast food restaurants, I like taking the kids to BK the best, my reason- the crowns! Kids meals are kinda expensive, especially if you have to buy more than one. We normally order the kids a meal off the value meal board and split it between them. At BK they can still get a crown to wear, so to them they are getting a kids meal because the crown is their toy.

Tonight C was trying to decipher the name Burger King and concluded that there must be a king that stays behind the counter somewhere and protects the burgers from people trying to steal them.

Sure. Why not? I love seeing their little minds work and make connections and draw conclusions. You never know what they are going to say!

04-08-15 Mommy, I made you a necklace!

As I got ready to leave for work this morning Charlotte asked me to wear the necklace she made for me to work and let everyone there know that she had made it for me. (Because that wouldn't be obvious!) Sure, it wasn't my style and it was heavy as a brick, but I thought, why not?!? So for a good twenty minutes I sported this thing around the office. :)

I made sure to take this picture as proof. I will show it to her in the morning and it will make her day!

04-07-15 Elusive teeth

This evening I finally got some pictures of baby E's elusive teeth!

I also snuck in some quality cuddling time with my boy!

It didn't end well!

Still worth it, though!

04-05-15 Happy Easter!

From going to church in the morning, to egg hunts and a huge family dinner, this Easter we were reminded of how incredibly blessed we are! We are so grateful for the work done on the cross and the resurrection of Christ. He is risen! He is risen indeed!

04-04-15 Naona visits!

It was so wonderful to have my mom visiting for the week. She is great with the kids and it's always a joy to have her over! The kids got to bake cookies, dye eggs, and jump in mud puddles! We were sad to see her go home this morning. We love you!!!

Today was spent shopping. I really really don't like shopping... Especially for clothes. We spent the whole day out going from store to store and finally I was able to get some dresses! The kids were as good as can be expected for such a long, napless day so we rewarded them with a stop by Chik-fil-a for dinner. Since it was late and there were no other kids there, we let them spend a long time in the play place. (Usually I just view those things as germ factories, so I try to avoid them.) Baby E enjoyed watching them through the window.

This little girl can be such a sweetheart.

04-03-15 Superman

I'm pretty sure I get awesome mom points for finding these Superman pajamas at the wee-sale a few weeks ago. Seriously, who wouldn't want to sleep in a cape?!? Big E likes to take off down the hallway while looking over his shoulder to see his cape flapping in the wind. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he runs into a wall!

Even superheroes get thirsty!

Selfies with superman!

04-02-15 Coloring Books Just Got Cooler

I was at the store the other day when I came across some pretty interesting coloring books. The cover said that when you download the ap, you can use it to make your colored images come of life. Intrigued, I picked up one for C and one for Big E. This evening we gave them a try.

First Big E colored his picture.

Then Tim held the iPad over it until it came to life.

And voila! There he is!

How cool is that? He moves around the screen, flipping and jumping. The kids were completely amazed. (And admittedly, we were too!)

03-31-15 Thankful

My mom is visiting us this week. Last night as we were all getting ready for bed, my mom got a call from my dad. He was calling to inform her that the next door neighbor's house was on fire. My parents' house is less than 20 feet from the neighbor's house. A fire had started in their garage. Soon someone in the neighborhood was pounding on my parents's door to tell them to evacuate. My sister nearly asleep upstairs. My dad ran upstairs and woke her up and they both got safely out of the house. Once outside they were greet by massive amounts of smoke and large billowing flames from the house next door.

After a few moments of waiting, the fire department finally showed up. Eventually they were able to put the fire out, but not before much of the neighbor's house was destroyed. The heat from the flames did damage to my parents' house and several of the other nearby houses.

Thankfully it seems no one was injured. While my parents' house was damaged, it did not catch fire (which considering how close together the houses are and how strong the wind was, they were very fortunate.) Firefighters went through the house to make sure it was safe. My mom went back today to survey the damages. My sister sent me some pictures. Fortunately the insurance will cover the damage.

We pray that the rebuild process will go smoothly for everyone affected.

The house across the alley... Everything melted!

What a scary situation, but I'm so thankful that God kept my family safe.

03-30-15 Weren't we JUST here?

Why yes, we were just at the doctor's office last week. (Twice... Once for C and once for Big E.)

But who wants to work a full week anyways?!? (I do, actually!) So... I took Big E in this evening for a nasty cough. Turns out it is just a virus so no meds, just a humidifier and honey if his throat hurts. While we waited for an hour to see the doctor we pretended to be super heros and vanquished all the monsters and dragons we could find. This little guy is so much fun!
